Hello, world!

Site News is where I’ll post information that pertains strictly to the website itself. Somewhat technical, but this is also where announcements will be made about new features or functionality coming to the site.

The site is a heavily cusotmized instance of WordPress, hosted on an open source Linux server maintained by one of the largest data centers in the country. We’ve got managed security, co-location, server redundancy, etc. (all the good stuff).

The primary purpose of wigginsms.com will be to provide information to the Stone County and Wiggins communities. In time, we may create sub-domain sites for other specialized purposes.

For now, the two types of information we’re focused on are articles (which will be organized by categories and tags), and events for a centralized community calendar.

• articles – anything and everything that the people in the community would and should know, have access to, and otherwise might find interesting
• events – there are tons of events always happening in Stone County, and if you follow several dozen Facebook pages/groups, Instagram feeds, read the paper, ask around, you might know about some of them. We’re hoping to make it a little easier to stay in the know, by having a centralized calendar to showcase as many local events as possible. And guess what? You can subscribe to our calendar right on your smartphone. So any time a new event is added, you’ll have instant access to the details.
