Stone County Connects to Something Larger
What happens when Stone County shows up in a regional list?
It does more than recognize individuals. It connects the community to a broader network of people, ideas, and opportunity across South Mississippi.
Each year, Gulf Coast Woman Magazine’s 100 Successful Women to Know highlights women for their work in their communities. Stone County has multiple women nominated this year, reflecting the kind of steady, people-driven work that happens here every day.
That work is familiar locally. It shows up in volunteer efforts, mentorship, small acts of leadership, and consistent support for others.
What is less common is when that work is seen outside the county.
When women from Stone County are recognized at a regional level, it creates visibility for the entire community. It signals that the work happening here is part of something larger. It places Stone County alongside other communities across the Gulf Coast that are solving problems, building programs, and supporting their people in different ways.
That connection has practical effects.
It helps ideas move between communities.
It opens the door for partnerships and collaboration.
It increases awareness of what is happening locally, beyond county lines.
Over time, that kind of visibility makes it easier for communities to participate in conversations where resources, attention, and opportunities are shared.
Programs like 100 Successful Women to Know create those points of connection. Each nomination adds to a broader picture of where meaningful work is taking place across the region.
Nominations for this year’s list remain open through May 7. Submissions can be made at gcwmultimedia.com/100successwomen.
For Stone County, participation is not about recognition for its own sake. It is about making sure the work happening here is visible, connected, and included in the larger systems that shape how communities grow.
Wigginsms.com will continue to follow the process and will highlight the women selected once the list is announced.
Update: Nominations are now closed. Tickets are available through June 1st and may be purchased here.
