On Saturday, April 20, 2013, local residents are invited to participate in the “My Heart. My Life. Heart Walk” to be held at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campus. This heart walk is an all ages event, and helps to benefit the American Heart Association. The main goal of the American Heart Association is to work at treating, preventing, and defeating heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular ailments. Whether you are walking for yourself or others, this proves to be a great cause because every step counts on the road to a healthy heart.
The walk will be taking place near the Bell Tower. All participants are encouraged to arrive early for a full morning of festivities beginning at 7:30 a.m. After an hour of festivities, the heart walk will start at 8:30 a.m. The heart walk is a non-competitive 5k, and walkers may move at their own pace.
